Fez Medina property prices - update

"As for prices, I was surprised to find this last weekend that there are still real bargains if the simsaar believes that you really want an inexpensive house. I saw some good houses for 7,000, 12,000 and 14,000 euros! And a friend of mine recently bought a lovely massreiya for 8,000 euros."
We were pleased to get above comment just a few days ago, because trying to ascertain the house prices has become a nightmare. We have also had several reports of offers being accepted and then buyers finding the price has been substantially increased at the last minute. Our advice in those cases, is walk away for a few days.

One client of a very ethically minded real estate company in Fez was actually advised to look elsewhere, rather than be involved in a grasp for more Euros by a greedy seller.

The market in Fez is likely to continue to grow for some time now and with the relaxation of the rules governing guest houses, that market will also increase. If it does there is going to be a continuing shortage of craftsmen and women available for restoration work. If in doubt about a craftsman, check his previous work and talk to those who have employed him. A little bit of checking could save a lot of money and time.

If you do decide to employ a contractor to do your renovation - double check his credentials and get his quote for the work in writing. There is nothing more heartbreaking than to see gullible house owners standing in the midst of a house that could have been beautiful - but has been ruined by shoddy work.

Remember - when in doubt, ask someone who has been through the process.
